Ella Sri Lanka - The Green Mountain Town

Ella is a small town governed by an urban council in the Badulla District of Uva Province, Sri Lanka. It is located around 200 kilometres (120 miles) east of Colombo and is 1,041 meters (3,415 feet) above sea level. The area contains a diverse bio-diversity, with many different species of flora and wildlife. Ella is bordered by cloud forests and tea plantations on the slopes. Because of its height, the town has a colder temperature than the surrounding plains. The Ella Gap provides panoramic views of Sri Lanka's southern lowlands. There are many places you can visit while visiting the Ella,

Ravana Ella Falls and cave.

The Ravana cave and Ravana waterfall are located about 2 kilometers from Ella city, at an elevation of 82 feet. Sri Lanka's history extends back over 2000 years and is mentioned in the famous Ramayana. Ravana is thought to be a devout Sri Lankan who acted as a villain in the lives of Ram and Sita. He kidnapped Sita and held her captive in the famed Ravana caverns and Ravana falls. The landscapes around the Ravana falls include slopes, valleys, hills, and streams that adorn the rocks.

This marvel's historical ramifications extend back 25,000 years. The falls are stunning; there is flora in the form of foliage, towering deciduous trees, and twigs springing from the rock crevices. The falls' walls are gritty but relaxed, giving the impression of a polished sun-kissed stone. The water falls with great force and creates a satisfying thud as it hits the pools of water. Another thing that contributes to its attractiveness is the wind. The air is so strong in the nights that the roar of the wind clashes with the sound of the rushing streams. You may bathe in the waters that Sita used to bathe in during her time in Lanka. The cave is recognized for having one of the widest waterfalls in Sri Lanka, is surrounded by dense trees, and is ideal for swimming.

Bets time to visit - The weather is nice from January through May, with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 25°C. The hottest month is April, the coolest month is February, and the wettest month is October. However, the settings are always favorable for welcoming guests; the atmosphere is dewy and misty for the majority of the day. The altitude allows for a pleasant stay in Ella as well as a spectacular climb to Ella Rock.

Nine arches’ bridges

The Nine Arch Bridge in Ella is one of the most photographed locations in the country and is rightfully considered one of Sri Lanka's most famous sights. The bridge, which was built by the British in 1921, was initially intended to be made of steel. However, WWI broke out not long after the bridge was completed, and the steel assigned to the bridge was moved to Britain's front lines. The operation was performed by a team of Sri Lankan engineers and builders who used stone and cement blocks. To this day, the 91m long, 24m high bridge remains totally without steel support. The term 'Nine Arch Bridge,' which is located deep in the bush, originates from the nine majestic arches that are part of its construction. This destination, surrounded by tea plantations, is one of the most stunning sites we visited in Sri Lanka, and we couldn't put our cameras down once we arrived.

Best time to visit - As with any tourist destination, the ideal time to see Nine Arch Bridge in Ella is first thing in the morning to avoid crowds. The sooner the better! However, the optimum time to see Nine Arch Bridge depends on what you want to see. Sunrise is undoubtedly the greatest time to find an empty bridge with less people. However, if you want to witness the famed train pass over the Nine Arch Bridge in Ella, you'll have to be a little more particular.
